18+ in Dudley? Would you benefit from emotional support with issues that are impacting your mental health?
Just Straight Talk’s Talking Therapies Plus project is funded by NHS Black Country HealthCare. JST is working with a partnership of organisations, including Beacon Centre for the Blind, The What? Centre and Art of Change, to help people in the Dudley borough who are struggling with their mental health. Presenting concerns can include anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship issues, domestic violence, phobias, substance misuse, or addiction issues.
Essentially, if you are struggling with your mental health and feel that talking to someone about it could help, then this could be the project for you. Under Talking Therapies Plus, JST are offering short-term emotional support, advice and guidance appointments. These will be one-to-one and can take place in the community in a place that you are comfortable. This can include local libraries and cafes. The advisors delivering this project are trained up to Level 4 in Advice and Guidance.
At JST, we are not therapists. However, if at your initial triage, depression and anxiety scores are high, fast-tracking to counselling may be possible through the partnership. Throughout the partnership, a wide range of different signposting support options are available, including counselling specifically for individuals impacted by sight loss, bereavement support, group therapy, support for non-English speakers, and anger management.
If JST’s emotional support, advice, and guidance appointments are right for you, we will listen with a listening ear and we will tailor the sessions, looking to help increase confidence and well-being. Furthermore, we will review the presented concerns with you, offer advice and guidance, and, holistically, look to set goals and focus areas. This will hopefully lead to greater life satisfaction, improved mental and physical health, and lower anxiety and depression severity when the programme is completed.
Following the support, if further interventions are required, we can help refer you to follow-up support. If you are interested in speaking with someone about the Talking Therapies Plus project, either with JST or the wider partnership, contact us below
