Just Start Talking

Remember that loneliness is not the same as being alone, and has nothing to do with how many people you see – it’s the quality of social contact that makes all the difference.

Just Straight Talk (JST) is a Coseley-based social enterprise supporting people by providing the practical help and motivation they need to turn their lives around and reach their life goals.

JST works holistically with people in a tailor made way to ensure complex situations are approached together and that a helping hand is on offer through life. The team constantly goes the extra mile to ensure full support for people by providing a range of practical, inspirational support and mentoring. JST has a strong track record of helping people increase their confidence and self-esteem which results with engaging positively within society.

JST have been successful with an application for funding through The East Coseley Big Local. The new pilot project called Just Start Talking will work to support lonely and isolated people within East Coseley.

This will enable people in East Coseley to have a supportive environment and empower them to start feeling better about their futures, their opportunities and the community where they live.

People from East Coseley will have opportunity to be involved through volunteering with the project which will decrease loneliness and present great opportunities to meet people and cultivate new friendships and social interactions.

The two community connectors Dave and Shona support local people by connecting people to activities, coffee mornings, befriending, group sessions to give people some routine, support and increase their social circles. Activities will be held at the Rainbow Centre, Rainbow Street, Coseley. JST is aware that in East Coseley isolation and loneliness is prevalent and JST works with partner agencies to help support this issue.

If you or anyone you know would like to find out more about the project and how we can help to support yourself, your family, friends or even you neighbour to help reduce loneliness and isolation please email call Dave and Shona on: 07726 210 092
